Gwalior, India: Meet Tushar, a dynamic volleyball player and dedicated student at ITM University, Gwalior. Balancing sports and academics, Tushar shares his journey from a young school athlete to a university star in an exclusive interview with our magazine.

evening, everyone. My name is Tushar Nair," he begins, introducing himself
with the humility and poise of a seasoned professional. Currently pursuing a
BPS degree with a specialization in volleyball, Tushar's journey is a testament
to hard work and perseverance.
The
Beginnings
Tushar's
volleyball career started early. "I began playing in the 6th standard at
school and competed at the zonal level," he recalls. Encouraged by his
parents, who recognized his potential and steered him towards sports, Tushar's
dedication to volleyball grew with each passing year.
Inspiration
and Motivation
"My
parents inspired me," Tushar shares. "Since I was weak in studies
from the beginning, they encouraged me to make my future in sports." This
early support set the foundation for his continuous training and unwavering
commitment to the sport.
Memorable
Achievements
When
asked about his most memorable moment, Tushar's eyes light up. "My
favorite moment is seeing my parents' proud smiles when I receive awards and
medals," he says. "That pride is the best moment for me."
Overcoming
Fears
Like
all athletes, Tushar faces fears, particularly the threat of injuries.
"Every athlete faces fears, especially injuries. If you get injured, it
can spoil the whole match," he explains. This ever-present risk
underscores the resilience required to excel at higher levels.
Staying
Motivated
During
tough times, Tushar remains undeterred. "This is a game; it's not
important to win every time. But that doesn’t mean we stop playing," he
says. His philosophy is simple yet profound: practice more, strive to give his
best, and if not this time, then next time he aims to win.
Balancing
Life and Sports
Balancing
sports and studies is no easy feat. "From morning till evening, I practice
constantly. During exams, I spare some time for studies because education is
also important," Tushar explains. His disciplined approach ensures he
excels both on the court and in the classroom.
Beyond
the Court
Outside
of volleyball, Tushar has simple pleasures. "I sometimes dance and sing
for enjoyment, but my main focus remains on my studies," he says. This
balanced lifestyle reflects his grounded personality and dedication.
Advice
to Young Athletes
To
young athletes who view losing as the end, Tushar offers wise words: "It's
not important to always rank first. Winning and losing are both parts of
sports. I would motivate them by saying that losing is not the end. If you lose
this time, you will surely win next time."
Tushar's journey from a young athlete to a university star is inspiring. His resilience, dedication, and balanced approach make him a role model for aspiring sportspeople. Through his story, Tushar embodies the true essence of sportsmanship and the spirit of never giving
